I just got a Medscape Alert of a special edition on Cancer and Nutrition. Sugar is the new 'bad boy.' I remember about 3 years ago listening to a lecture in NYC on sugar and brain cancer and how a ketogenic diet helped. The cancer 'feeds' on sugar, but not on ketones. The brain loves ketone bodies for energy. What's scary is what you noted about my piece: Even people with slightly elevated blood sugars are at greater risk of Alzheimer's, and CVD too, as my editor is always pointing out to me (and adding to my copy, with the most recent link).danbrownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00119737446791634173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7410445500476013619.post-40081091924472053642013-11-23T12:06:29.677-05:002013-11-23T12:06:29.677-05:00This is very interesting. I had heard that aluminum that leached from soda cans might be a factor in Alzheimer's, and both of these ladies drank lots of regular soda. Perhaps it was the sugar in those cans, instead.Jan Blawathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06697621979002856884noreply@blogger.com
